I've earned my ears!

The past four days have been very busy! I was training to be a Park Greeter. In this role I work at the turnstiles and help tell people where to go. It is very exciting to see all the happy people as they walk into the park. (also, i see their "lovely" selves as they are leaving the park!)
After three days of training, I had to take a written test and pass a performance assement. Well, needless to say, I passed both today and got to do it all by myself this afternoon.
I have tomorrow and Friday off. Tomorrow, I plan on doing homework for my onine class and Friday (Heidi is off as well) we are going to hit the parks!
Then on Saturday, I will go back to work start my training for the Parade Audience Control. I have two days of training and then the assessment on monday. For this part of my job I don't start work until 2 but I finish later at night!
Well, I hope all is well. I'll write more when my life gets exciting again! (This is my costume for Park Greeter... I will show you the other one later!)

My first week is done!

Hello again everyone!

Well my first week as a Disney Cast Member is finally over! This week they have been filling my head with wonderful trivia facts and a lot of stuff that I just can't remember.
I found out that I will be working in the wonderful Magic Kingdom! The center of it all (everyone that works there claims it is the best park because it started WDW!) Although this does mean a LOT of late nights (sometimes we stay open as late as 3 AM) I am very excited!
I will be working as a park greeter and as Parade Audience Control (PAC). As a park greeter I will be working the turnstiles and welcoming guests and when I work the Parade Audience Control I will be setting up ropes and managing the crowd. (I get to be that person who tells your children to keep their hands of the ropes!) I have to admit that when I first found out (6 months ago) that I would be working the main gate I was slightly disappointed. I had marked it as one of my choices but I really wanted to do other things. Now however I am very excited because it is a lot of interacting with guests. I have to know everything there is to know about the park and be able to give answers to every type of question!
My first few days of training have gone well. Traditions was actually pretty interesting. We learned a lot about how Walt and Roy Disney started the company and how it all played out after their deaths. The past few days I have been one on one with a trainer. Yesterday I spent 3 hours on a computer (doing training), we got to ride rides (so that I can explain the ride to the guest) and I worked my first parade (Which was very over whelming).
Today Heidi and I both have a day off so we are going to go to Olive Garden (OG) and then to Hollywood Studios (formally MGM) and to Epcot. Tomorrow I start training at the turnstiles. I have to be at work by 6:20 which means I have to leave my apratment at about 5:15. (Wonderful I know) I will spend three days training there and be assessed on the fourth day. THen I will have Thursday and Friday off and then Train for the following four days in Parade Audience Control. This week seems like it will be very busy but I am looking forward to being able to do my job!
Last night after work Heidi and I went to Epcot. We did the ride that is in the "golf-ball" and as we went toward the countries it started to rain. (surprise surprise) Well Heidi and I decided that instead of hiding with all the other guest we would go make the best of it. For the next hour we were pelted with rain (thanks FAY) and we jumped in puddles, danced around, and had a wonderful time (Sorry mom I am on my own and I can play in the rain if I want to!) NEedless to say we cam home freezing and soaking wet! IT was a blast!
I hope that everything is going well with everyone. It is very hard being away from everyone but I can not wait to see all the people who are coming to visit me!
Hope to see everyone soon!

I'm in Disney

Heidi and me touring the Wedding Pavilion with my family! --Its beautiful!

Hey everyone!
As of yesterday I am an official Disney World Resident.
Out flight in on Sunday went well with little delay. Betsy and I were upgraded to first class so that we could "get to Disney World in Style!" It was very exciting! We did some shopping when we arrived and then stayed at the Marriot Village. (This happens to be right down the road from my apartment complex!)
On Monday we went to the first check in. I did what everyone does in WDW and stood in line! Things were going great until I got to the housing station. I had signed up for a roommate matching program and I had received a roommate named Heidi. We had been able to communicate (Thanks to FACEBOOK!) and had decided we were a good match. When I got to the station they told me that Heidi had already checked in and there were no longer any spots in her assigned apartment. (I about walked out!) I got a different apartment and kept going through the line. About half-way through Heidi got in touch with me and we were able to go figure out our housing "issues!" They offered us a 1 or 4 bedroom apartment (each bedroom has two people so in a 4 bedroom there would be 8 girls) We opted to have a 1 bedroom and try to make other friends! THis ended up being an excellent choice. We share a bedroom, bathroom, and HUGE walk-in closet and we still have a living room and kitchen! Heidi keeps saying we ae spoiled! (which we are!)
We moved in that day and had to attend a housing meeting which was not very interesting! Last night we went to Downtown Disney with my mom, betsy, Aunt Shar, and Heidi and ate at Rainforest Cafe (Sorry Matt its a tourist attraction!) We also hunted for HIDDEN MICKEY's which is a scavenger hunt built into the park (There are over 700 and we will find them all!)
Tuesday (This morning) we had to be in line for more registration at 8:30. I found out I will be working at Magic Kingdom on Main Street. I will do things like the train, parades, and turnstiles. Then later today I had to say good-bye to m family and Heidi and I ventured off on our own.
Thanks to Hurricane Fay (Which is starting to hit us) we are home-bound. Tonight we will finish unpacking and re-arrange furniture (Joni you will be proud!)
Tomorrow we start traditions and Heidi and I have to be on a bus at 6:55 AM dressed in our Sunday best (Buisness clothes) We do have to venture out soon to buy Panty Hose (if that is spelled correct) because we have to wear them. (Apparently its still the 1950's)
I miss everyone terribly but I can not wait until people start to come visit me. My first visitors will be my boss Mo and her husband Lee (they are a hoot!) and then some of my kiddies are coming from my class at work!
This month will be full of suprises so stay tuned for more info!!

Miss and Love everyone!

On my Way....

So....tomorrow my flight leaves at 11:30am from Bloomington. I will move in Monday morning where I will meet my roommates (anywhere from 1-7 roommates!). I will start work on Tuesday with 'Traditions'--which is everything you need to know about Disney. I will keep you updated on my adventures!
